Gill Dove is both an accomplished professional artist and an experienced
educator. Working from her studio in London, Gill exhibits frequently
and has work in private collections around the world. Her work is an
exploration of landscapes and the effects of environmental change and
adaptation. (www.gilldove.com).
Her teaching philosophy is committed to making links with the arts,
bringing alive the curriculum, making it meaningful and relevant. Gill's
approach to art teaching is to develop her pupil's skills and knowledge
of the elements in the visual arts and then to encourage them to explore
their ideas and make choices and decisions through sensitive intervention,
thoughtful suggestion and careful questioning to enable each person to
achieve their creative potential.
Underlying the teaching of art is her passion to enrich the student's
knowledge and understanding of language through stimulating visual literacy,
animating story and poetry, encouraging debate and discussion and prompting
the student to voice an opinion as a foundation to developing confidence,
extending vocabulary and creating a learning environment where one has the
enthusiasm to read and write.
She has a high expectation of all her students, based on a trust and
belief in the individual's need to thrive intellectually and culturally.
Gill also applies her understanding of how creative and innovative people
are motivated when devising educational experiences for both adults and children.
