ANDREW HARRIES

Andrew Harries has many years of experience working with both professional and non professional performers across all age ranges in a diverse range of settings from Kingston Jamaica, the Theatre Royal Bath and The Young Actors Theatre in Islington where he is currently artistic director. His work with young people has included: creating a new hip hop opera in conjunction with seven schools in the London Borough of Newham, devising and delivering workshops that meet all levels of the national curriculum and training teachers in the delivery of drama based education both in schools and at the University of Bristol where he has academic status. His work has taken him to Finland, Jamaica, the Czech Republic and Portugal.

Andrew is passionate about the potential of drama in creating effective dialogues for learning across the curriculum and for its vital role in supporting young people's listening, communication and social skills and the deeper exploration of narrative texts.

Andrew ensures that all his sessions are based around fun, play and the encouragement of risk taking in a supportive and creative environment, which puts even the most daunted of children (and teaching staff) at ease. He is equally comfortable working within or without the school environment.
