"The active approaches to books in these meetings
involved the use of storytelling, story games and story
boxes, sessions on book corners, and a strong emphasis
on drama and role play. The word most frequently used in
relation to this training and to the role of Liz George in the
INSET, was inspirational".
READING ROUNDABOUTPROJECT, WANDSWORTH
Since running 'Another Tale', a children's bookshop and book
service for schools, Liz has continued to be passionate about
children's literature and keeps up to date with new titles
through her work in schools and on the
Kate Greenaway Awards. Whatever your setting may be, from
front room to classroom she is always happy to talk about
books and reading!

Quality children's literature is central to all of our courses. We
aims to enhance children's achievement as readers and writers
through their pleasure and enjoyment of books. A key aspect
of our work is to raise parents' and teachers' awareness and
knowledge of current children's literature and to develop a greater
understanding of how books can be used to support teaching and
learning across the curriculum.
Our work in schools which may form INSET or practical
library and classroom sessions with teachers, parents and
children includes:
- Enjoyment of books
- Audit and weeding of current book stock
- Identifying book needs
- Reflecting cultures and society in range of books available
- Dual texts
- Books in different languages
- Choosing books for children
- Establishing and maintaining core book collections
in the classroom
- Book corners
- Displays
- Daily reading routines
