learners through reading. It will include:

for children
- regular reading routines which raise the status of books and
reading in the classroom
- developing criteria for book selection
- creating dynamic reading environments in school
- practical activities to promote effective use of literature
across the curriculum
- the role of quality books in children's language and
literacy development
“Well done to Liz George for a brilliant day! …THE BEST inset
day for years. Every teacher left with positive comments and
there is a real commitment to building a core book collection
within the cluster of schools in attendance. We will be implementing
the new strategy with a big difference -we will be doing
it from a sense of conviction in our good practice and
enthusiasm for literature and the joy it offers children.”
