RAISING WRITING STANDARDS THE SUBJECT LEADER'S ROLE
This is a popular interactive one day course, designed for Early
Years and Primary teachers new to the role of subject leader or
for teachers who are looking for fresh approaches to raising
standards of teaching and learning in relation to writing. The
course will consider:
- the role of the subject leader
- a school audit of writing: a practical framework for considering
factors such as current practice, resources, effective teaching
and monitoring
- key elements of the writing process
- developing a talking and writing classroom with an inclusive
pedagogy for boys: creating authentic situations for children
to become engaged in meaningful learning activities,
developing ideas through thinking, talking and writing in
collaboration with peers and adults
- the reader in the writer: a closer examination of the
integral role of quality texts in children's writing development
- rehearsals for writing using drama and role play
- writing across the curriculum
